So this post is a little more applicable to small liberal arts colleges, and especially college. But, in some ways I see small colleges as being testing grounds for how to do college education.
Dyads are an interesting way to combine two disciplines and show students how disparate methodologies and processes interact. The problem is, dyads require a lot of time and energy from professors to do so. So much time and energy that making these classes has a lot of pressure and risk associated with it.
But is there a way to remove the pressure?
Would it be possible for students to write proposals in advance of a term to two professors to create “self-made dyads”. Basically what would happen is the student would write a proposal arguing how the two classes fit together.
